Born from my love of jewelry I began to design and make my own jewelry. I am fascinated with creating personal, wearable works of art. I believe jewelry should be fun and exciting. A symphony of color, shapes and textures that delight the eye, play with the senses and draws you in to explore it further. My constant search to find focal and accent beads that satisfied my love of color and texture led to my glass bead making and glass fusing. Melting and shaping hot glass allows me to recreate and idea or image of beauty and capture it in glass.
Many of my designs are born from an idea or a vision of natural beauty taken from my travels. A visit to the ocean can inspire a series of soft blue and green beads swirled with white. A garden will delight me with spectacular color combinations and infinite shapes to play with. The exhilaration of trying to choose colors, shapes and the layout of a piece keeps me constantly inspired and challenged. My passion for the holidays also inspires much of my jewelry art. Fun and playful holiday themes inspire me to create colorful and interesting designs to capture the joy and excitement of the season.
My designs, like life, tend to be fluid, constantly flowing and changing. I am currently focusing on combining elements of fused dichroic glass and lampworked beads joined with precious metals which allow for unique, creative movement. The form and function of each piece evolves with the creative process. A bead, molded in fire may suggest a particular design yet when combined with another element, the mood of the piece can change completely. Much of the excitement of this new direction comes from seeing my vision become a reality.
